Tartan - Advanced Materials and Construction Techniques
Tartan has always led the way in evolving building techniques and materials that add quality and value to every home. The standard features and finishings you'll find in every Tartan-built single family home are not only of the highest quality, they are truly beyond what the vast majority of builders today consider the norm. We only accept the best in building materials, and only work with suppliers whose commitment to quality matches our own. Two examples:
The common wall separating Tartan semi-detached homes is designed and built to provide residents on both sides with maximum privacy. We start with a technique known as stagger stud construction, to eliminate sound transfer that results from studs on both sides of the wall being directly aligned. When installing the studs, we leave a two-inch air barrier between each home, which acts as an additional sound buffer. Next we install R12 Batt insulation on each side of the wall for additional sound attenuation. Finally, we cover and finish both sides with a double layer of 5/8-inch drywall. On the outside, it looks like any other wall. But the way it's built will keep your sounds inside your home - and your new neightbours' sounds out.
Tartan has combined beauty with durability by choosing a 40-year architectural shingle - the only builder to do so as a standard feature. Laminated architectural shingles by Biltmore ensure every Tartan-built home is topped off with quality. Biltmore shingles are built to last, with double layer construction and tough, modified sealant providing superior tear strength values and greater resistance to high winds. They are manufactured in a larger size than most shingles, with the added exposure enhancing their shake-like appearance.
